8BitDo’s NES-style keyboard just dropped to $70, its lowest price yet

The 8BitDo Retro Wireless Mechanical Keyboard is such a solid pick for a board. It’s wireless, hot-swappable, comes with high-quality PBT keycaps and Kailh Box switches, and it has easy programming. Also, it’s frickin’ adorable with NES-inspired colors and a free gigantic button pad. Today, Amazon is selling it for $69.99—that’s a new lowest price by a hefty margin and an incredible deal for any retro gaming geek.

I reviewed this keyboard back when it first came out and it impressed me. Don’t let the old-fashioned styling fool you! This tenkeyless design has some serious chops as a wireless gaming keyboard. 1,000Hz USB dongle wireless is fast enough for all but the fastest of twitch gamers, but it also connects via Bluetooth for easy access to laptops and phones when you need a little more flexibility in connection.

What about customization? The standard layout means you can swap in any keycaps you want, though the high-profile PBT caps included in the box are already pretty good. Ditto for the Kailh Box White switches, which are stiff and clicky. But anything in the MX format will fit in there, easily swapping into the sockets. And finally you can use 8BitDo’s desktop software to program custom layouts and macros, including on the oversized macro pad. You can add an additional three pads if you want for up to eight “smash that like” buttons.

This keyboard comes in a lot of different flavors, but this original NES option gets the most frequent discounts. Right now, it’s $30 off at Amazon, and it’s not likely to last too long at this price.
