Matt Berry is now a sentient Ikea shelf in Skyrim
The Swedish furniture giant Ikea continues to venture into the world of gaming. A few weeks ago, they unveiled the new Yxstaby collection in collaboration with Microsoft’s gaming division, Xbox, but the company has now brought its furniture into the gaming world in the form of an officially licensed mod for the hit game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The ‘Kallax Storageborn’ mod introduces Ikea’s classic Kallax shelving unit as a companion in the game, designed to help you carry around all the junk you collect in Skyrim. Actor Matt Berry, known for his role in the TV series What We Do in the Shadows, among other things, provides the voice of the Kallax shelving unit in the game.
The developers at Kinggath Creations have also added “meatball helmets,” an Allen key as a weapon, and an adventure that takes the player into two Ikea-inspired caves.
The “Kallax Storageborn” mod can be downloaded from the Skyrim Creations website. From the mod description:
If you inevitably become overloaded, you will be sent to a long-abandoned Dwemer trading post. There, you will embark on a quest to uncover the origins of a mysterious master. As your journey unfolds, the Dragonborn will face Tamriel’s greatest enemy – Disorder!
Build your very own KALLAX STORAGEBORN during your adventure. With unimaginable storage capacity, the ability to collect loot, tidy your home, and be summoned with a new Thu’um – even if it’s not a companion – KALLAX will change the way you manage clutter forever.
Fill KALLAX with new loot like the mighty Allenblade and the Meatball Helmet. Use them in battle to defeat new, extremely dirty enemies.
Then take KALLAX everywhere with you. Defeat Alduin, become an Archmage, praise Sithis, destroy the Stormcaps or the Imperials, or simply beat up mudcrabs. And all without the shackles of the Burden.
