New Blood Message Trailer Is Giving Us Serious God Of War And Last Of Us Vibes

Publisher NetEase Games and developer 24 Entertainment delivered another look at Blood Message, the single-player action game set during the Tang Dynasty of China, and it gave us some serious God of War and Last of Us vibes. It helps that the main character, who remains nameless for now, is fighting tooth and nail in violent and brutal third-person combat to protect his son, but Blood Message is also about a massive journey across a treacherous landscape in hopes of saving his home, too.
Through this trailer, we learn that our protagonist and his fellows are part of a larger historical Chinese conflict over the Hexi Corridor in what is known as the Gansu province of China today. This corridor is part of the Silk Road trade route, making control of it critical for the region’s power holders: in this case, the Tang Dynasty. But the Tubo, or the Tibetan Empire, is fighting for the land and its resources. Our mysterious hero, a soldier and messenger, will fight for his home, doubly so when his son goes missing, sending him on a trek across China. On this journey, he’ll cross lethal war-torn landscapes like sweltering deserts, the humid wilds of East and Central Asia, and more. And he’ll be engaging in visceral combat that looks like a mix of God of War and The Last of Us.
Check it out in the new Blood Message trailer for yourself:
“Set in the late Tang Dynasty in 848 AD, players take on the role of a nameless messenger who embarks on a perilous eastward journey to deliver a message that holds the fate of his homeland,” a description of Blood Message from 24 Entertainment reads. “Alongside his son, they must survive relentless enemy sieges and a treacherous three-thousand-li (one thousand mile) odyssey, fighting against impossible odds to return to the heart of the Tang: Chan’an. Amidst the desert sands, they etch the final tale of loyalty in the Great Tang. When history forgets, warriors remember. The world has heard too many stories of emperors and generals – Blood Message is an ode to the unsung heroes.”

There’s still no word on when to expect Blood Message, and though we know it’s coming to PC and consoles, we still don’t know which ones.
